Location:
Belfast Photo Imaging Club (BPIC) meets every Thursday night (Sept-May, inclusive) in the Morton Community Centre, Lorne Street, Belfast (just off the Lisburn Road) @ 7.30pm.
We pride ourselves on making everyone feel welcome and involved. Camera Clubs are not there to 'teach' you photography but you will certainly 'learn' a lot by taking an active role within our Camera Club.

Club Chairman
Ross has played a significant role in making BPIC the top club that it is today, with a varied mix of members that some Clubs can only dream of. He has had considerable success in competitive amateur photography over the last couple of years, culminating in the ARPS distinction from the Royal Photographic Society in October 2011, and several PAGB medals in Photographic Exhibitions. In November 2011 he achieved the DPAGB award from the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain. A keen camera collector and a self-confessed equipment junkie, Ross has been Chairman of BPIC for the last 3 years. |

Currently work within the IT sector for a local Financial Institution. Being technically minded and from an arty background I acquired my first digital SLR in 2009, hoping that it would be pretty easy to master. Proved wrong I joined a camera club, entered the competitions and listened to the experienced members. I joined BPIC in 2010 where my experience and knowledge only improved, which lead me onto achieving my Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society in September 2011. My hobby has turned into my passion with particular interests in portraiture and off-camera flash. Some of my work can be viewed on my website http://www.barrylau.com |

Hon. Secretary
Became ‘serious’ about photography once I retired from teaching in 1999,and became a member of BPIC in October of that year.
Got my CPAGB in 2005 in slides ! (What are they, do I hear you ask ?)
So I’m a relatively late starter in this digital world, but making progress, I think !
Always a Nikon man, even in the ‘Stone Ages’, I use a D80, with mainly a Tamron 28-300mm, plus a Sigma 170-500, and a Tamron 90mm Macro.
My main interests are landscape, flora and fauna, architecture, and abstracts – ‘natural’ ones, and those possible via ‘manipulation’. |

I bought my first compact camera on holiday in Australia in 2005 and was hooked.
Years later, with a little advice from a good friend and professional photographer, I moved out of IT and into photography.
I was awarded 'Photographer of the Year' in the UK in 2008 and as a result, set up http://www.donalmccann.com. Being part of a camera club has improved my photography enormously. I believe strongly in sharing what I've learned, blogging what I'm up to and having a laugh along the way.

I am a photo-artist and use various forms of finishing in my work and I am not what some might call a pureist as I love to add different ideas and techniques to my images to produce something more than just a photograph.
I will shoot anything I find interesting regardless of subject matter and I enjoy the experimental side of creating new images to the point were some might call it unusual.
I shoot a lot of photographs to bank with the idea of turning them into something rather different at a later date and revisit many images as my creativity respondes to new ideas. |
