An evening with Donal McCann ARPS

09th December 2011
On Thursday 8th December, club member Donal McCann ARPS proudly displayed his panel of 15 prints which gained him the ARPS distinction from the Royal Photographic Society in September 2011. The RPS had retained the images for display, as an example of the standard required to achieve ARPS status.
Donal also gave a talk based on his individual black and white workflow, showing the RAW starting point, and the various processing steps carried out in order to reach the final print.
The evening was well attended and all members hopefully learned from the information which was provided in an excellent overall presentation. In particular, Donal explained how the process starts with looking for subjects which will make a good black and white picture, the type of light to look out for, and what to avoid etc.
BPIC members have really raised their game in terms of black and white pictures in the last couple of years, and with the benefit of Donal's presentation, hopefully that will continue.

Thank you to Donal!
