Jim Moreland FRPS FBIPP Presentation

13th October 2011
On Thursday 13 October, Jim Moreland FRPS FBIPP gave a superb talk, and presentation of his work to a full house at BPIC.
His prints were of a quality and standard that many members had not seen before - architectural pictures for instance, taken with a 5x4 field camera and ultra wide lens. Jim has a very distinctive style of printing, and had a story or anecdote for virtually every print, which made for a highly entertaining evening. There were photographs which had won major competitions on display, and it was a delight to see his collection of portraits, and environmental portraits in particular.
In a surprise presentation, The Royal Photographic Society had provided Jim with 3 copies of its 'Portfolio 1' book which he signed and presented to Donal McCann, Barry Lau and Ross McKelvey in recognition of the fact that the 3 BPIC members had achieved the ARPS distinction on the same day, in September 2011.

The feedback from members includes:

"Really enjoyed Jim Moreland tonight. Amazing photographer and great character. I must learn how to print."

"I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the talk tonight. It's great hearing the different stories each print has to offer as well as actually appreciating the superb quality of them. If I ever get my prints within a fraction of those I will be a very happy person."

"Shame the time ran away so quickly! Lovely that such a great man is so down to earth and approachable. :)"

"Great presentation, great prints, easy to listen too as well."

"That presentation alone was worth the membership fee. Awesome."

"...his b&w's are just mind blowing."
