29th April - 'Photographic Composition'

26th April 2010
This Thursday will be a hands-on discussion on photographic composition. Ross has sent everyone a copy of a hand-out by e-mail which you should print out and bring along with you. We will consider many guidelines for good composition, such as diagonals, triangles, symmetry, simplicity, filling the frame, Colour theory, putting the subject off-centre, lead-in lines, and unusual viewpoints. (We might not even mention the rule of thirds!!)
Then with a basic understanding of those guidelines, we will look at them in action, by considering many photographic examples, and encouraging everyone to get involved in providing feedback on the images - be prepared to state what guidelines you see being put into action in any particular picture; whether you think it works, or doesn't work; whether the picture appeals to you or not, and if so, what in particular provokes that reaction.
**If anyone has not received a copy of the handout please contact Ross by e-mail beforehand**
